Sunshine, finally
Several weeks of overcast had me missing sunshine. Skip tortoise missed it too, sleeping in a cold pseudohibernation in the yard or pantry
for most of 2 weeks.
Skip got to splay out in the ya
rd yesterday in stellar weather.
I took Race and Claire to the beach awhile. There was almost no one anywhere and the water was clear green. The new parking lot (notice tractor marks in sand) is almost done (Hurricane Ike's high tide destroyed the last one). No, Race did not get sunburned. He was only shirtless a few minutes at his insistence.

2 weeks ago a new gopher decided to plow up my front yard and see if he could get away with eating the roots of my "trees" and generally mess up the front 'yard' and destroy anything I manage to keep growing here (2008 brought a scant total of 15.71 inches of rain to our yard).
After setting 5 traps and waiting 3 days, I recovered his worthless body from the ground. I drug his floppy, furry, lifeless form around to try and teach the cat to know the smell and hunt them. He wasn't into it too much. Apparently, 3 days was too long to wait and the body didn't smell so good to him (note the ears turned back in prissy disgust). What a wuss, or any other name you can give a cat... That skank gopher is still hanging from the palm tree. It's too nasty to post a rotting, lynched gopher pic but gophers...ye be warned, argh!!

gophers are to you as coons are to me, over the years they've cost easily a coupla thousand....roof, walls, pest control...
