The rise and fall of Claire's Laguna moods

Last week I launched my kayak from Daniel's house with Claire in the back storage area. She'd never ridden in it before but liked the ride a lot and was very calm, as though she does it routinely. As soon as we stopped at a sandbar to cast at some fish she got all trepidated and wanted to be held (see the pic with kayak in background). After awhile she lightened up and actually walked around and had a good time (see pic with paddle and Doyle's house in the background)...until the stunning sunset ebbed and it began getting dark. She then got anxious again. All the while I could see Daniel across the laguna as a shadow walking in what looked like the sky, the water was so calm. I caught up with him after sunset so a grumpy Claire wouldn't ruin his fishing chances. We caught nothing but had a good time.

I think it is so special the time you and Sunny put into spending one on one with the girls. Even though Claire was a little anxious this trip, she should find it easier each time. I don't know many parents that have such unique adventures with their kids. Skip and I are ready to see that baby Reeds. Any signs?
