Thad the pig

The doc I work with caught a wild hog piglet last week on his ranch and gave it to us.
The girls named him "Thad". He has a cool striped coat and has sorta bonded with Skip, the african desert tortoise twice his size. He curls up nightly with him. He runs about the yard searching for scraps and cat food we throw him. He escaped thru a hole in the fence I'd forgotten about just minutes after putting him in the backyard. Since the girls hadn't seen him yet, I had to try to catch him again which is impossible since he's about as fast as a squirrel. I followed him in the field behind the house with my cast net. I thwarted several of his attempts to escape down the fence line and in the end he streaked back around to the front of the house and retreated back to the familiarity of the garage and into the kitchen. I shut the garage door and eventually he found his way back to the backyard and I covered his escape hole. Good thing he caught himself because I never would have, or would have destroyed a net and got bit in the process.

Getting cable has not been bad. It's main benefit is still 24hr news (especially good in hurricane season) and cartoons to keep kids occupied when getting food ready and you want them contained in a holding area for corraling them to the feed trough. I caught this pic of them all getting along watching some show.

The cat has taken to sleeping on Claire's pillow.

Race likes to wear his favorite blanket like a turban when he sleeps.
