A Dune fire and contest winner

Sunday a fire erupted in the dunes nearby. It burned from 3pm to around midnight. Lots of smoke but the land was surrounded by water/canals so no harm was ever feared. Nevertheless, firefighters spent half the afternoon attempting to squelch it, even as it reached a few feet from fizzling itself out at the water's edge, they drove a truck out to spray it down (click the pic to see the approaching firetruck in the center smoke with headlights on) . Good thing they got to that area when they did or it'd have gone out on its own before expense or risks were taken. Note: the pics side by side are sorta panoramic.

Gwen submitted a drawing of some flowering trees to a local newsletter. The drawing won a contest and will be in next month's newsletter. She got a teddy bear gift card. She's very proud of the award certificate.
