Back from Mexico

Last night we returned from a week of scouting Cancun and Playa del Carmen in Mexico. It was sort of a working vacation. Sunny and I spent days surveying the city (even taxi drivers have a hard time navigating it, I'm told) and evenings with the kids. We looked over Cancun and Playa del Carmen and made a good contact. Today I got word that what we were planning to begin there is not something the church is ready to take on right now. Perhaps in two years. That's actually a better timeline to work with and there's no rush as I've had similar ideas in my head for approximately 9 years. I can wait more. Sunny and I and the church have learned so much in the past few weeks, that there's a lot to glean from our trip for future application. However I look at it, there's a lot of good things that will result from our going to scout the area. I've learned some stuff about myself that can't be bought on any shelf. We're glad to have had that chance!

The girls played on the beach a lot. This is not new to them though since we live 2 min from a beach already. Their favorite things there were the pool and the hammocks. The beach is like their neighborhood park here at home (just a little browner water). The far coarser sand doesn't pack like padre sand. Claire liked to wrap up in the large drapes. Race face-planted into the sand from a beach lounger and you really HAVE to click on his pic to enlarge it so you can see the sand packed in his face. He's so white-skinned and red-headed...very different from our girls, but loves to smile and laugh as much as they do.

We ate buffet most every meal and surprisingly no dishes were busted...no small accomplishment in this setting with 3 young kids.
