Claire recently turned 3. Her only reques

t was pacifiers and baby bottles. She doesn't use them so much as she thinks they're cool and likes to collect them. She also got a new bike and had a cupcake candle blo

wout. Her aunt Meggie came to play with her from

Houston too. For a month Claire talked about how we'd camp on the beach near the house (hey to them it's still a big outing). I set the tent up that evening in strong winds. The girls dugout a club under a beach table(
click table pic to enlarge and see them under there), we played chase, and they posed on the lifeguard stand (sorta). As darkn

ess fell, a parks dude told me we couldn't camp there. I put the tent up in our backyar

d instead and they listened to music an

d read books. I tried sleeping in it with them but I'm too long...my head hit one wall and feet went numb against the other. When I awoke at 2am laying in Claire's fresh, warm urine I called it a night and moved the girls inside. In the end, I was very happy the parks dude gave us the beach boot. This experience would have been fully gnarlific totally covered in sandy pee. Happy birthday Claire!

You have made up my mind; I am never camping with my kids. Unless there is a cabin with running water, air conditioning, and a soft bed! Your girls just keep getting more beautiful every day! I love the pic of Claire with the cupcake.

Minus the pee... That sounds like an amazing birthday and you are a very cool daddy!
Happy B-day Claire! David was impressed with your intrepid birthday plans. Rock on!
I can't believe you let a little sandy pee ruin a perfectly good camping trip! :-) After all, it's just a big sand box. It's not like it was sand poo...
