Claire makes her own stage
Claire and Gwen began a new school yesterday. They woke me before leaving for the first day (I'd worked the night before) and showed me their uniforms and backpacks. They were energized and wide-eyed. Sunny said Gwen stopped and smoothed her skirt before going in to wake me. That makes me feel humbled, honored, and important to her.
Gwen goes M-F. Claire goes 2 days/week. On off days, Claire has for the first time in her life the run of the house. No older sister shadow to avoid or be darkened by.
In the past, when we'd sing at bedtime, she'd normally not sing much and at dance time...not so much.
I awoke today (her 2nd day home without big sis to dictate activity) to find her on a stage of her own construction singing along with her favorite cd (her aunt Meggie's duo "Lost Together"). So while Gwen's off in school following classroom instruction, Claire's carving out her unshaped niche at home...fast. Sometimes all you need is a little space to let your imagination bloom. Notice Race in the background already in his guy groove...jamming things into his mouth at any opportunity.

She is so special to me!!! Thanks for sharing that moment in her life. I can't wait to watch her just flourish!
Too PRECIOUS!
I can total relate! Being the last of 6 I LOVED not having my siblings at home. I could just be me (and not the little sister).
