The Kemps on land and sea

This past weekend one of my best friends since kindergarten came to visit with his family. I was lucky enough to have one afternoon with David and his son to spend on the jetty on their last day here. The sun was bright and the sea was shiny-pond flat. There were sea turtles all over the place. At one time I saw SEVEN of them feeding around one pile of rocks. They are young Kemp's Ridley turtles. Most certainly they're from the Padre Island National Seashore a few miles down the road from here. They spot nests, hatch the eggs, and raise them until release time. They release more each year. This is the 2nd year the jetties have been in place and are obviously becoming a great source of food, shelter, and area general cruising for chics for the local turtles. David's last name is Kemp. The turtles first name is "Kemp". They may be cousins. We're looking into it. Gwen and Claire like Willie, as is apparent from the pic Dave took. I like the turtles, also apparent from another pic Dave took. Note how incredibly calm the water is in the background. That's not a normal thing.

Cute kids and turtles, those are the pics that I like to see! Glad you guys had fun at the beach. Seems like the Reeds are always doing something in the sand w/ some sort of 4-legged critter.

Okay, this blog entry PROVES you are CRAZY or at the very least OFF by a bit!!! I really enjoy your sense of humor. In the psych world we call it 'loosening of associations' but in my world I call it just plain ENTERTAINING!

We would go to the beach more often if we could ever find things like sea turtles and shrimp eels. Maybe we go at the wrong time of day.
